Lilliput ( this copy Feb 1956 ) UK with worldwide distribution.
Published by Hulton Press, London
In some ways Lilliput was a forerunner for a lot of the other pocket publications on this page. First appearing in the 1930’s it was a small magazine with a big magazines content. Each issue had a smattering of nudes but also a massive literary and photographic content. Words and pictures supplied by some big names of the time. Girls only appeared on the cover well into the mid 50’s, in fact just before the magazine was swallowed whole by Men Only, initially appearing as a byline and then disappearing altogether. You can see why it struggled as the market got saturated in the 1950’s but its demise left a void in the mens magazine world. Only the big names like Playboy could later be said to compete on content. www.lilliputmagazine.co.uk
